Building a routine you will still keep in March

Routines rarely fail because someone stopped caring. They fail because the routine was designed for an ideal week that never arrives.

Anchor to something that already happens

Attach each step to a fixed point in your day: brushing your teeth, the kettle boiling, closing your laptop. Anchors remove the decision, and decisions are what you run out of.

Design your floor, not your ceiling

Decide in advance what the routine looks like on your worst day. A two-minute version that survives a bad week keeps the habit alive; an all-or-nothing routine ends it.

Make the next step visible

Keep what you use where you use it. Most missed steps are storage problems, not willpower problems.

Reviewing a saved routine once a month is usually enough to catch what has quietly stopped fitting your life.
